ABOUT TOM

Author Portrait - Tom Jamieson

Tom grew up in Melbourne. After graduating from university, he lived overseas for ten years in Paris, Tokyo, London and Los Angeles.

Fascinated by ancient history, religion, art, technology, astronomy, human psychology, and philosophy, his speculative fiction encapsulates all his passions, and explores how humans respond in difficult, inexplicable situations.

He wrote his first book of poetry at nineteen while studying at Melbourne University, and wrote his first novel in his late twenties while living and working as a consultant in Japan. He's also lived in London, Los Angeles, and Paris.

In living away he travelled extensively, spending months in North Africa, South America, Eastern Europe and Asia, falling in love with the richness of the world’s cultures. The temples in Myanmar and the Buddhist philosophies that formed them drew him back, and he’s returned to them dozens of times.

After settling back in Melbourne to raise his now teenage sons with his wife Natasha, he worked for twenty years as a senior executive in technology, going on to become CEO of several businesses.

During his career he completed a Masters from Harvard University where he graduated on the Dean’s List.

Throughout his life he has always written, completing eight novels and scores of shorter stories. He also paints, and his works, large Abstract Expressionist pieces influenced by Mark Rothko and Cy Twombly, hang in London, New York, Vancouver, Tokyo and of course Melbourne.
